Pomatomus

Pattern: Pomatomus
Yarn: Sundara Yarn, Ltd Edition Aqua Over Lilac
Needles: US1 dpns

I decreased the shell pattern to a 10-stitch repeat, giving a total of 60 stitches overall.
* Also, you omit rows 10, 11, 12, and 13 of both charts. The pattern is now a 10-stitch by 18-row repeat.

Pomatomus

Pomatomus

Aside from a pair of socks, it's been a really unproductive week. I mean really. un. productive. I've had this stupid itchy dry cough that peaks between midnight and 5am, despite the barrage of syrups and pills. I'm all bloodshot, drugged up and still coughing. I don't understand the reflex of coughing when you have nothing to cough up. By the way, have scientist figured out why we yawn? And isn't it weird that cats do it too? Yawn, that is. But they don't cough. Now why is that. If you've ever seen a coughing cat please let me know.

PS Rambing Rose cardigan remains in a heap in the corner, waiting for me to just take the 30 minutes already to finish the button bands. I'm still not in the mood for it. I'm visiting my parents this week in ATL, so I might pawn the job off to my mother.

Oh yes, that certainly sounds like a mom job! Have fun in the ATL and eat a fried peach pie at the Varsity for me;)

I love the colors of those socks! Pomatomus really brings out their flavor.

My dog coughs, but I'm not sure about cats. You'd know it if you heard it, though. It's very pathetic.

Gorgeous socks!!!

90% of the time we yawn (I typed yarn ha) is because we need oxygen. I don't know about cats but I bet they look really cute when they do it!

Lovely socks! I knit Pomatomus once, but had to rip out and restart when they were far too large.

My friend's cat actually coughs quite a bit. She has asthma, and has to get her inhaler daily. That keeps the coughing to a minimum, thankfully. Otherwise, you're right - I think it's kind of rare in cats. Other than the hairball hacking, of course. :)

They are beautiful! Hope you enjoy a good week with your parents.

Wow, those socks look so beautiful knit up in that yarn! Please finish Rambling Rose, I so want to see the pictures when it is all done!

Cats don't need to cough because they more than make up for it with the hairball thing.

Your Pomatomus' are beautiful. They're on my list of things to knit soon. I'm glad to see that the pattern works well with variegated yarn, as that's what I'd planned as well.

Wow, those are some stunning socks. Frankly I think anything knit in Sundara yarn is stunning, even if it's the most boring pattern ever, but does it ever go well with Pomatomus!

Those socks are so, so, so pretty. Sorry to hear about the cough - hope it passes soon. Hmm, now I'm wondering about the coughing cat business. I know they hiccup and burp...

I have the same cough you have. I'm finally breaking down and going to the doctor today, because it's been two weeks. Ugh!

The Pomatomus socks are gorgeous in that yarn! I've heard many good things about Sundara, and it sounds like they're true!

Those socks are just lovely. They make me want to seek out Sundara.

I recommend gargling whiskey in the evening before bed and taking Manuka Honey when ever seems good to sort out the coughing.

I have heard a cat sneeze, but the only coughs I've heard were hairball related.

ooh, very pretty!
did you put your feet in a light box? :)

Pretty socks! I love how the pattern highlights the colors in the yarn. Perfect combination.

Amazing socks!!! They are definately on my to do list now!!

We yawn because the extra oxygen that goes in accelerates the metabolism fighting the sleepiness we feel when the body is tired ;o)!

those socks are lovely. so i have a question about the asthmatic cat. is she allergic to cats? heh.
Monday, April 14, 2008 2:50:02 PM (Eastern Standard Time, UTC-05:00)
My cat coughs. She coughs and then coughs and then yaks up a mouthful of ivy or peace lily that she's managed to snitch off the side table when I wasn't looking.

You casually say that you decreased the repeat to 10 stitches, kind of like saying that you only poured yourself half a glass of water. Yet without my brain-stimulating afternoon cup of coffee in hand, it sounds like it had to have been much much **much** harder than just that!

Lovely Socks!

The cough should be done soon. My 4YO had it and just when you think you're going to die of it... it gets better.
Monday, April 14, 2008 7:24:10 PM (Eastern Standard Time, UTC-05:00)
My cat has asthma and he does cough. I had never seen a cat cough before him, though.

I loooove the color of your socks! They are beautiful. I think I have the same cough you do. My doc says it's due to post nasal drip, not fluid in the chest. That's why it's unproductive. Try taking a decongestant like Sudafed before going to bed.

And my cat coughed quite a lot towards the end. It was terrible to hear, kind of like a bark.

Cough Cure - 1 Tbsp Honey / 1 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar/ 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper/ 1/4 tsp ground ginger / 1-2 Tbsp Water - this is really a double dose - make it fresh, drink it down and your cough will leave you. It worked for me 3 x this winter! Love the socks and the scarf.

I thought we yawned when our bodies needed more oxygen. Or your question may have been rhetorical. Either way, I love the socks!
