I'm a big cemetery fan too. I love your image of Old Burial Hill. When I lived in Marblehead, that was a major part of my weekend (and in the summer - evening) walks.

Old cemeteries can be fabulous. There's a ghost town in California, Bodie, that has a marvelous one from when it was a gold-mining boom town. We were in a town outside Boston once (wish I could remember which one!) staying with friends. Their house backed up to a wonderful old cemetery from Revolution times. There were (somewhat) newer sections, but the old ones were incredible. There's a tiny one on a hill in the town I grew up in that I need to find again (it's tucked back out of the way). It's on a hillside, and has some marvelous sayings on some of the headstones.

Great photos!

Cemeteries are fascinating places, aren't they? When the weather's nice, I like to go walking through the cemetery that's at the top of my street. It's very peaceful, and some of the headstones are really interesting. My favorite one has a golfer on it, and it looks like when people come to "visit," they leave golf balls!

There's a sprawling cemetery in Waltham (about half an hour away from Boston proper) which is amazing to walk through. It borders Brandeis University (my school!) and has gravestones of soldiers from the Revolution to the Korean War. There's one of a man who apparently loved his football and poker; if I remember correctly, his visitors also liked living poker chips, akin to the golf balls of the previous poster.

The second picture is breath-taking. Nice work on all of them!

Cemeteries are FASCINATING! I grew up in SW Louisiana, so the above-ground crypts and stone work were so amazing to look at. There's a really interesting one here in Seattle too, where Bruce Lee is buried!

You can tell so much about a city by it's cemeteries can't you?
